What do we do?
The parishes of EMLY Deanery are committed to a common purpose: to build communities of faith which will grow in numbers, spiritual depth and social engagement with the rest of the community. This is a daunting task and we need each other! The Deanery helps to do this by facilitating the sharing of resources and best practice, It offers a means of communication between the Diocese and individual parishes and a safe forum in which to discuss matters that affect the church and the rest of society.
How do we do it?
Deanery clergy meet every two months at Chapter where we may hear from speakers on issues that affect the church and/or the community, worship together or simply catch up on news and enjoy each other’s company. We also have three Deanery Synod meetings each year, usually just before the Diocesan Synod meets. These again cover issues that affect the wider church. This year’s meetings cover the Anglican Covenant, church music, and reading the Bible. Our Deanery Evensong in July will involve children from schools within the Deanery.
